Amir ready for Headingley Test with strong bowling strategy

After thrashing England in the first Test at Lord's, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir is gearing up for the second one

After thrashing England in the first Test at Lord's, Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir is gearing up for the second one at Headingley with a strong bowling strategy that will help him secure another win for the team.

In an interview, Amir revealed that they would try to bowl fuller as Headingley wicket supports swing and bounce. “Credit goes to the management for Pakistan’s brilliant bowling performance. We improve our bowling technique in the camp,” said Amir, who picked up five wickets at Lord’s.

“Another reason is that we have played two practice matches and a Test match against Ireland ahead of the Lord’s Test. This help us a lot to adopt the conditions and credit goes to Aju Bhai [Azhar Mehmood], who worked with us quite hard,” he added.

Speaking about England batsman Jonny Bairstow’s wicket, Amir said, “When Jonny came to the crease, he looked quite nervous and under pressure. I bowled one outside off stump, he left it lazily. We had watch videos of him bat and we had his strength and weakness in our mind. So I tried to bowl full in-swinging delivery and got the reward.”

Pakistan and India join forces for good cause

Amir went on to praise skipper Sarfraz Ahmed’s stunner stunner behind the stumps. He said that when a bowler sees these types of catches, he already has 90 percent of chances to get another wicket or two. “So did I. Just after two deliveries I got another wicket for Pakistan and set the platform for the team,” he added.

After the historic victory at Lord’s on May 27, Pakistan team is now eyeing a clean sweep in the series as they are headed to Leeds for the final Test of the tour starting from tomorrow (Friday).
