London stocks rise at open

LONDON: The London stock market advanced in opening deals on Tuesday, amid May Day holiday closures in Frankfurt and Paris.

In initial trade, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of major blue-chip companies added 0.1 percent to stand at 7,512.94 points compared with Monday's closing level.

In the eurozone on Monday, Frankfurt's DAX 30 had won 0.3 percent to finish at 12,612.11 and the Paris CAC 40 gained 0.7 percent to 5,520.50. Both markets now remain closed for business until Wednsday.
