Meesha Shafi accuses Ali Zafar of sexually harassing her more than once

With many celebrities coming forward and sharing their #MeToo stories, the latest to speak up is Meesha Shafi, as the Coke Studio star has accused fellow singer Ali Zafar of sexually abusing her on more than one occasion.

The mother of two, Meesha, took to Twitter and shared her experience saying that by doing so she hopes that the society will break the culture of silence.

Sharing this because I believe that by speaking out about my own experience of sexual harassment, I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society. The singer and actress wrote that she was not young or just entering the entertainment industry when she was harassed by Ali, but instead she was an accomplished woman who spoke out her thoughts. "Ali is someone who I have known for many years and someone who I have shared the stage with. I feel betrayed by his behavior and his attitude," Meesha wrote.

Meesha added she knew she was not the only one to have fallen victim to sexual harassment. She hoped that after writing about her own experience, women in Pakistan would raise their voice as well.

The singer further said that it is not easy to speak out.. but it is harder to stay silent. "My conscience will not allow it anymore," she added.
