The affectees of Khanpur tragedy met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Saturday. Talking on the occasion, the affectees said that the heirs of those who died and the injured in the incident were thankful to the government for providing timely assistance to them. They were also thankful to Chief Minister Punjab for commiserating with them over this tragedy, they added.
They said that Punjab government has tried to minimize the gap between rich and poor by providing opportunities of modern education to the children of poor, orphans and widows in Daanish Schools. They demanded that the children of those who died in Khanpur tragedy should also be given admission in these schools. Talking to the affectees, Shahbaz Sharif said that a number of precious lives were lost in this tragic incident upon which the entire nation was grieved. He said that they equally shared the grief of those families who lost their near and dear ones.
