The Federal Board of Revenue has issued general instructions for preparing the Sales Tax &Federal Excise returns for Tax Year-2011-12 to facilitate the business community. According to the FBR instructions issued late Friday night for the taxpayers, the most important feature of the e-filing system of this return is that the previous procedure of preparing, verifying and submitting the returns is kept the same as was in practice for TY-2010-11.
The instructions further said that FBR has clarified through the FAQs published at the website that the CNIC/NTN of non-registered persons is only mandatory for Manufacturers, Importers and Exporters wef 1st September 2011, therefore they will not be required to provide this detail in the return for the tax periods July and August 2011 which was a major demand of business community and this relaxation will give a great relief to them. It is also clarified that the stock statement can be submitted within 120 days of due date of the return which is another relief announced by FBR.
The instructions stated that this return contains ten (10) Annexure, but neither the retailers nor the Null Filers are required to file any annexure. Therefore almost 33% of the registered persons will not submit any annexure being retailer and Null filers. A large majority of the taxpayers will only fill two annexure and a very few will submit 3-5 annexure, because in the e-filing system the annexure are only required if the registered person makes any economic activity relating to that annexure. FBR has also notified the helpline for seeking further assistance, wherein the taxpayers can call at 051-111-772-772 round the clock. The taxpayers can also send email at [email protected], it is further advised that while sending e-mails the taxpayers should mention their mobile number for prompt service and guidance, the FBR instructions added.
