West Indies chase 166 after rain in New Zealand

CHRISTCHURCH: The West Indies were set a target of 166 in the rain-shortened third one-day international against New Zealand in Christchurch on Tuesday.

New Zealand were 131 for four at the close of their innings, with the match reduced to 23 overs a side after a four-hour rain disruption.

Under the Duckworth-Lewis system, another 35 runs were added to the West Indies target.

New Zealand recovered from an awkward start to be 83 for three after 19 overs when rain forced the players from the field and they added 48 in four overs after the resumption.

George Worker was bowled for two, while Colin Munro (21) and Neil Broom (two) followed quickly as New Zealand crashed to 26 for three.

Munro and Broom were both caught at slip by Chris Gayle, who had an immediate impact on his return to the West Indies side after being sidelined by illness since midway through the first ODI.

After the rain break Ross Taylor progressed from 32 to finish 47 not out.

Tom Latham was out stumped for 37.

New Zealand have already wrapped up the three-match series after winning the first two ODIs.
