TORONTO: Canada's main stock index ticked higher in early trade on Thursday, helped by gains among its biggest banking stocks while energy companies weighed.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index was up 19.84 points, or 0.12 percent, at 15,898.32 shortly after the open. Seven of its 10 main sectors were in positive territory.
