KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active during the last 24 hours at the Port where three ships carrying containers and edible oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday, the Port sources said Wednesday.
Meanwhile five more ships scheduled to load/ offload containers, general cargo and edible oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was 45% at the Port on Tuesday where total number of five ships namely M.V Maersk Kingston, Al-Sabahia, Fisher-K, Ionian Sea and SC Halkou are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice and edible oil respectively for the last 24 hours.
A cargo volume of 33,904 tonnes, comprising 21,783 tonnes imports and 12,121 tonnes exports, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1412 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during the last 24 hours.
Two vessels M.V Al-Sabahia and Maersk Kingston sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning. One ship SC Haikou is expected to sail later on the same day.
