ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) candidate, Sheikh Rashid submitted their nomination papers for becoming the next prime minister at the National Assembly Secretariat on Monday (today).

Candidates for the next prime minister were asked to submit their nomination papers to the National Assembly Secretariat by 2pm today.

After scrutinizing the documents, the members of National Assembly will elect its new prime minister on Tuesday (tomorrow), August 1, at 3pm.

Addressing the media, Abbasi said that that the PML-N will win the premiership vote [tomorrow] with a majority.

Abbasi, the petroleum minister in the recently dissolved cabinet, said that the incoming federal cabinet will be chosen in consultation with the party.

PTI's candidate Sheikh Rasheed was accompanied by PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi. However, the opposition parties after the meeting have failed to unite behind Rasheed as the joint candidate against Abbasi from the opposition parties.
