Latest cricket sensation from Pakistan, Shadab Khan has been making headlines ever since marking his international debut, jut weeks ago against the West Indies.
The 18-year-old impressed the cricketing world during the T20 series against the world champions, claiming 10 wickets and in doing so was named player of the series, in which Pakistan eventually emerged victorious beating the hosts 3-1.
The teenager has been exceptional with his variations specially the googly, and has so far used it as a major wicket taking weapon. Shadab however says that he has more to offer.
“I know my googlies are getting famous, but that's not the only one,†Shadab told the Associated Press (AP).
“I really work hard on leg-spin and flippers too and will try to be the best in all three varieties.â€
Since making international debut after performing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Shadab has been quickly jumping ranking spots. Pakistan limited-overs skipper Sarfraz Ahmed believes Shadab could eventually play test matches if he continues to perform.
“I believe that if I put in more hard work, I will definitely get more rewards in international cricket,†Shadab said.
Shadab informed that he initially started off as a fast bowler, it was not until he was encouraged to try wrist spin by Sajjad Ahmed president at the Siddique Akbar Club in Rawalpindi
“When I started playing club cricket I used to be a fast bowler,†Shadab said. “But then our president of the club told me to start bowling leg-spin and I started working hard on this art.â€
