LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that the name of hospital being constructed at Muzaffargarh would not be changed from Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital.
Addressing the ceremony of the expansion of Recep Tayyip Erdogan Government of Punjab Hospital, Muzaffargarh, he said after the approval of the expansion project of the hospital, some friends advised him to name the hospital as Shahbaz Sharif Hospital, said a press release.
He said the friends were of the view that although Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan had provided the initial support, but the Punjab government had provided resources to expand it from 100-bed to 500-bed hospital, and it had all been possible with the personal interest of the Chief Minister and the Punjab government was spending funds more than Rs 9 billion, therefore, this hospital should be named after Shahbaz Sharif.
"But I told the friends that we should not forget our patron and mentor. Although the Punjab government is providing resources for the hospital, the name of hospital will not be changed from Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who not only is the leader of Turkey, but also of Pakistan," he added.
