ISLAMABAD: The 3rd Women National Weightlifting Championship will kick off from January 3, 2017 under the auspices of Pakistan Railway Sports Board at Railway Stadium, Garhi Shahu, Lahore.
According to Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF), Vice President Rashid Malik Pakistan Railway will defend the title.
"As many as 11 leading teams are taking part in this mega event including Army, Railways, Wapda, AJK, Balochistan, Fata, Islamabad, KPK, Punjab, Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan," he said.
"A total of seven categories competitions will be held, 48kg, 52kg, 58kg,63kg,69kg,75kg and plus 75 kg." He said that 1st Women National Weightlifting Championship was played in 2013 which was won by Pakistan Wapda while the 2nd was played in 2015 and Pakistan Railway clinched the title.
The concluding ceremony of the event will be held on January 5, 2017 in which medals will be given to the winner and runner up teams.
