imageLAHORE: The Executive Committee of Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) in a meeting here on Thursday demanded the authorities concerned to reduce electricity and gas tariff for industry.

LCCI President Abdul Basit, who presided over a meeting, said that industry was facing high cost of gas and electricity and facing difficulties in competing with others in the international market.

He urged the government to give due representation to private sector in the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to increase its efficiency.

He said that the governments in the world were facilitating their private sectors. Same should be done in Pakistan, he added.

He said that export-oriented industry of Punjab needs special attention as presently it is facing high cost of doing business.

He said that business-friendly initiatives of the government could enable this industry to grow and increase its productivity.

They said that the officials concerned should take the private sector on board in important decision-making.

Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan also spoke on the occasion.
