Pakistan pace bowler Wahab Riaz and fellow leg spinner Yasir Shah got involved in a heated scuffle during a practice session on Wednesday, a day before the first Test against hosts Australia at the Gabba.
The event was widely covered by the local and international media, as former cricketers and fans alike panned the two players for their behavior. They however soon took to social media and brushed aside any disagreement among them.
"Yasir and I are great friends. Nothing of the sort happened. We are not against each other, there is no disunity between us," Wahab said. "We will play together tomorrow, and you have to pray for us."
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken the altercation seriously and has sought a report of the entire event.
"I don't know how this happened because so far the team has been a well-knit side and disciplined. This is not discipline and we have asked for a report from the team management on what transpired," said PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan while addressing a press conference on Wednesday.
Shahryar Khan further informed that the necessary disciplinary action would be taken against the two players. The incident was soon picked up by the international media after pictures of the two players facing off in the training session went viral on the net.
