imageISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday acquitted two murder convicts over lack of evidences.

It is to mention that both accused were acquitted after spending 15 long years behind the bars.

In another case, the court converted the death sentence of a murder convict into life imprisonment.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard two different appeals against the death sentence in murder cases.

It is to mention that the accused Falak Sher and Qamar Abbas was awarded death sentence by the trial court for murdering two people in Mandi Bahauddin in 2001. The Lahore High Court also maintained the trial court verdict. Later, the heirs of Falak Sher and Qammar filed a petition in the Supreme Court against LHC order.

During today's course of proceedings, the court remarked that the prosecution had failed to produce evidence and prove its case without any shadow of doubt.

The court ordered to acquit both the convicts.

In another murder case, the court converted the death sentence of the convict into life imprisonment on his appeal against his sentence awarded by the trial court and maintained by high court.

The accused was convicted for murdering his brother's wife in 2005 in Sarghodha.
