FAISALABAD: Divisional Commissioner Syed Tahir Husain said the Punjab government is taking steps to initiate development projects in five major cities of the province including Faisalabad with the cooperation of the World Bank to strengthen accountability, transparency, services delivery and citizen satisfaction regarding urban development.
He was chairing a meeting held here on Friday to discuss various developmental projects, improvement in the management and other relevant issues in connection with the "Punjab Large Cities Urban Sector Development" with the World Bank Pre-appraisal Mission.
The meeting was attended by World Bank Mission including Raja Rehan Arshad Lead Operation Officer, Ming Zhang, Sector Manager Shehnaz Arshad Development Specialist, Masroor Ahmad Water and Sanitation Specialists, Zhiyn Chen Urban Economist, Chaohua Zhang Social Development Specialists, Syeda Shabnam Najaf, Senior Urban Planner, Nadia Qureshi Urban Planner and others.
The divisional commissioner directed the executing agencies of Faisalabad to evolve a comprehensive strategy regarding the required development in the various social sectors for the relief of the public and urban development.
He said that the design of the project including proposed actions prior to negotiations and imbursement linked indicators should be devised for the submission of proposals to the World Bank Mission through Punjab government.
The urban development specialist elaborated, during the meeting that the development authority the service delivery, performance improvement, capacity building and technical assistance would be provided under this program for the implementation of the projects. Among other who were present in the meeting included Director General FDA Chaudhary Muhammad Ashraf, EDO Finance Liaqat Chattha, Managing Director PHA Ashiq Dogar, MD WASA Zahid Aziz, EDO MS Anwar Saeed Chaudhary and Chief Engineer FDA Rashid Majeed.
