PTDC, Turkish Airlines discuss MoU on cooperation

imageISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Saturday discussed issues related to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation with Turkish Airlines.

Abdul Ghafoor Khan, Managing Director PTDC met Yunus Mert, General Manager of Turkish Airlines in Pakistan and discussed the mutually agreed terms and articles.

He said that present government under dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was committed to portray Pakistan as a tourist friendly destination and the country needed aggressive promotion and publicity with significant development in tourism sector.

He said that Pakistan with its natural untouched environment was truly a tourists' paradise that had had an immense potential to be discovered.

The improved law and order situation in the country has resulted in increasing tourist flow during the last two years.

PTDC were always ready to welcome tourists and investors from brotherly Muslim country, he added.

Managing Director PTDC invited GM Turkish Airlines to visit Gilgit-Baltistan and other Northern parts of Pakistan and witness the beauty of majestic Northern Pakistan.

He informed that the ongoing project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would change the future of the region adding along this corridor, there were uncountable opportunities for potential investors to invest in the area and reap benefits from one of the world's largest economic activity.

He appreciated the Turkey's leadership that had changed the Turkey's future and joint ventures, it made to provide different facilities to Pakistan.

Abdul Ghafoor said that main focus of Corporation was on religious, Sports, adventure and medical tourism and Prime Minister had directed to submit monthly progress report.

Yunus Mert said that Turkish Airline was operating at 295 destinations in 116 counties. Turkey has introduced visa drop box facility for Pakistani Nationals.

" We will publish Pakistan's tourism attractions in our in- flight magazines and also play tourism documentaries," he added.

He said that Pakistan would be added in tour packages of Turkish Airlines.

"We should exchange our experiences to learn from each other," he said.

He told that he published his visiting cards in Urdu as Turkish people like to learn the language.

He invited MD PTDC to join the color festival planned to be held in November in Islamabad, in which tour operators and travel agents from Turkey will participate.

He appreciated the MD for his efforts to promote tourism in the country.
