The 37-year-old Younis khan needs just 92 more runs to go past Graeme Smith and become the 13th highest run-scorer in test cricket. Smith scored 9,265 runs in 117 matches during his illustrious career while the Pakistani great has so far made 9,174 runs in just 105 matches.
Younis is Pakistan’s first batsman to complete 9,000 test runs and became the highest ranked batsman at fifth position during the last series against England in the UAE.
Younis is also the only Pakistani player to have played at Old Trafford before. In his last three matches at this venue, Younis has made 194 runs at an average of 38.80 with two fifties, according to the ESPNcricinfo.
Overseas batsmen have not been hugely successful playing at Old Trafford and their record is worst here than any other venue in England. In the last ten years, there have been only 14 fifty-plus scores in 127 innings in six tests from overseas batsmen at this venue, a conversion rate of 9.1 innings per fifty-plus score. This is the worst conversion rate for overseas batsmen at any venue in England.
Younis contribution to Pakistan's test success is nothing short of phenomenal and the man will go down in history as one of the best test batsmen ever produced by Pakistan.
