imagePESHAWAR: Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) has clarified that due to power theft in Khazana, a suburban locality of Peshawar, the company is facing about 65 to 90% losses in the area.

According to a spokesman of Pesco, electricity to Khazana areas is provided through five 11 KV feeders while area is lacking the culture of the payment of bills.

In proportion to losses, 8 to 16 hours load shedding is being carried out in these areas. However, bifurcation of Khazana feeder is in progress and with the completion of this project, relief will not only be available to the people of Khazana and surrounding areas and they will get rid of low voltage and frequent power break downs.

According to statistics, losses on 11 KV Khanza feeder is 65%, Haryana 79%, Naguman 90%. Naghuman Old 70% and Takhtabad 73% respectively.

In the context of staging protest against load shedding, the spokesman said that protesting and taking the law into hands by the public is no solution to the issue and the only solution to overcome these problems is removal of illegal connections and installation of meters to reduce the duration of load shedding.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive PESCO has directed the Technical Staff to adopt all precautionary measures to avoid electrocution and electric shocks for their own safety.

He directed them to ensure the safety measures with letter and spirit.
