imageISLAMABAD: Women are concerned over the increased rates of cosmetics as well as beauty parlours ahead of Eid-ul-fitar, after imposition of tax on Make-up products.

As Eid is approaching females are all concern about increased rates of beauty parlour and make-up products because in a modern age women is considered incomplete without wearing make-up.

Women think that make-up makes them more presentable than wearing their natural face that's why they considered it a necessity for women not a luxury.

It's so easy to feel overwhelmed by endless rows of cosmetics at local drugstore but difficult to enjoy buying your required cosmetics within your budget, a woman said.

While purchasing cosmetics a working women Aminah Saeed said "I am a passionate cosmetics lover, now I am bit concerned because I witness increase in the rates of make-up products."

Beauty saloon owner Shazia said," We have offered many beauty packages for our customers in Ramzan, but now we had to increase the rates because of new tax imposed on cosmetic products. Its difficult to make these offers after the budget".

A customers Anum Malik said, "On the last Eid in package of 1500 we enjoyed good services that include facial, hair wash, hair cut with blow-dry and pedicure but now in package of 1800 they offered only facial and hair cut with blow dry, which is quite expensive".

Minister of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination, Saira Afzal Tarar said, while talking to APP, "Only one percent tax imposed on the cosmetics products would not harm the women folk who rarely buy these products."

However it would charge the parlour owners who buy the products in bulk, bringing them into the tax net.

She said, use of cosmetics is not one of the basic necessities but it comes under luxury items and levying only one percent tax on such products is not such a big deal.
