ISLAMABAD: A cross section of society has welcomed Pakistan Railways' decision of reducing its train fares by 10-25 percent during the holy month of Ramzan.
The decision has been taken on the directives of Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique.
A passenger at Rawalpindi Railway Station, Muhammad Raza said "this step of the Railways Ministry would help increase number of passengers as people love to travel by train."
However, he said, more steps are required from the Ministry and management of Railways to make sure that trains arrive on time.
Another passenger Qarar Khan said that rail is cheapest and safest mode of traveling but in the past, this sector was ignored.
"We have noted that many positive steps have been taken since the PML-N government came into power to attract the passengers."
A family traveling to Lahore, said train is the best means to make a journey with children and reduction of fare would help Pakistan Railways earn more money besides facilitating the passengers.
