TURIN: Astana's Vincenzo Nibali was assured of victory in the Giro d'Italia before the end of the 21st and final stage on Sunday.
Adverse weather conditions saw race organisers take riders' times on the first lap of the rain-soaked finale in Turin.
That decision saw Italy's Nibali assured first position ahead of Colombian Esteban Chaves and Spaniard Alejandro Valverde.
