imageYoutube, the world largest video sharing website has launched ads, which unlike the regular advertisements cannot be skipped.

The latest ads termed ‘Bumper Ads’ are somewhat forced upon. However, the good thing is that they are short, six seconds short. The ads are designed to appear before videos that are watched on smartphone or tablet.

According to Google blog post, "We like to think of Bumper ads as little haikus of video ads," Video Ads Product Manager Zach Lupei wrote in the blog, he was eager to see what the creative community will do with the latest format.

Coming, to the reasoning behind the introduction of Bumper ads, Google says, “Recent research has shown that half of 18-49 year olds turn to their mobile device first to watch video...many people prefer to watch on their smartphone – for the control, personalization and ease it offers. And as viewing habits change, we are working to introduce new formats adapted to these habits.”

The blog added, the Bumper ads were reportedly tested with Atlantic Records and Audi, and it was found that the format would best serve serialised content. Youtube said that it will not remove any ad formats and the Bumper ads will continue to coexist with the older ad formats.
