Karachi was once again plunge into darkness, when the main transmission line tripped on Firday morning leaving most of the city without power.
According to local media reports, the fault occurred at 7.05 am in the morning due to tripping of an extra high tension transmission line, which further tripped a number of grid stations leaving a large section metropolis without electricity. “The current power disruption is caused by tripping in the extra high tension line, which has affected a few grid stations,” said the K-Electric.
Clifton, Defence, Saddar, Lyari, Korangi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Landhi, Nazimabad and North Nazimabad, North Karachi, New Karachi, Mehmoodabad, Shah Faisal Town, Malir, Gulshah Hadeed areas were among the affected localities.
“A team of engineers is working on the fault and the issue will be resolved in a timely manner,” K Electric sources said. The company added that the restoration work was underway and electricity in most parts of city has been restored.
Power outages have become a frequent norm of the city, just days ago on January 29th, a major power breakdown left 90 percent of the city without electricity, halting the city normal proceedings. The power outage, also affected the water supply to Karachi as pumping stations in Dhabeji, Gharo and Pipri areas were also left without electricity.
