MOSCOW: Russia's rouble weakened on Monday to 36.00 against the dollar-euro baskets, its lowest level since December, tracking a drop in oil prices and broadly deteriorating sentiment towards emerging markets assets.
At 0739 GMT, the rouble traded at 36.00 against the dual-currency basket the central bank uses for guiding the rouble's nominal exchange rate.
Brent crude prices fell below $112 per barrel in Asia on Monday on rising fears that commodity demand may slow as the euro zone crisis deepens.
