londonLONDON: British share prices opened lower on Friday in continued volatile trade amid concerns that the US and eurozone debt crises could push the global economy back into recession.

Shortly after the open, the FTSE-100 index of leading shares was down 0.70 percent at 5,126.81 points, with a short selling ban in the main continental markets having little apparent effect.
