imageKARACHI: Former captain Rashid Latif Thursday called for launching of Disable Cricket World Cup to promote impaired cricketers.

He made these observations at a news conference held under the auspices of Pakistan Disable Cricket Association (PDCA) here at the National Stadium to launch Pak-Afghan Disable series starting here from February 22.

He also suggested the formation of Disable cricket wing under International Cricket Council (ICC)

President Pakistan Disable Cricket Association (PDCA), Saleem Karim, Secretary Amiruddin Ansari, President KCCA and Member PCB Governing Board Prof. Ejaz Faruqi, Chairman ABAD Junaid Ashraf Taloo, Senior Manager NSK Arshad Khan, Media Manager PDCA Nizam Khan and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Rashid Latif, who was motivating force behind the disable cricket, complimented their achievements of Pakistan disable team and said forthcoming series against Afghanistan disable team will another opportunity for their talent and skill.

"They are special and able cricketers the way they have performed at the national level and in the international arena,".

During their week-long tour, Afghan impaired cricketers will play three Twenty20 Internationals and two One-Day Internationals.

Rashid called upon Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take all cricket in their fold and also form wing for disable cricketers.

Secretary PDCA thanked Amiruddin PCB for their support and sponsorship of Rs.300,000 in addition of providing free playing facilities and boarding and lodging at PCB Academy.

He also complimented Malik Sports' Zulfiqar Malik for providing free kits to the team. Amir said holding of the series will cost over Rs.1.5 million.

ABAD Chairman Junaid Ashraf lauded the role of PDCA Saleem Karim for launching this disable cricket and took the team to new height with win against England Disable team held in Dubai in 2012.

He said they are supporting the cause of disable cricket and continue their mission for it promotion and development.

He called disable cricket a "Special Force" for their accomplishments.

Prof. Ejaz Faruqi said he was impressed with progress of disable cricket and praised PDCA for their grand efforts.

"KCCA have always supported disable cricketers and PDCA and will maintain in coming years," KCCA President said.

Amiruddin informed that some matches of the series will be televised live on Geo Super.
