iasxCAPE TOWN: Employers in South Africa's petroleum sector said on Friday they were ready to resume talks with unions to end a week-long strike that threatened fuel supplied in Africa's biggest economy.

The companies and the energy ministry also said they would do everything possible to ensure security of fuel supply.

"We would like to encourage negotiators to facilitate a speedy resolution to the mutual benefit of all parties concerned," the South African Petroleum Industry Association and the ministry said in a joint statement.
