ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's finest umpire Aleem Dar feels his fellow officials are not paid well and are neither given required benefits by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) saying he has asked the board to have a review on it.
Talking to a private news channel, Aleem Dar said India pays double to their umpires and even the value of their currency is higher than ours.
"In other countries ex-players associated with the game are becoming umpires but this is least seen in Pakistan (a former player becoming an umpire) just because the umpires are not paid well," he said.
Dar said he had asked the board to provide the umpires with central contracts improving their fee structure and providing them with all other facilities.
"When umpires are on duty they must be given stay in the best hotels as it is necessary for an umpire to have a peace of mind and get proper sleep to do his job well," he said.
However Aleem Dar said complete fitness tests of umpires should be conducted after every six months. "Being strong in all aspects is needed as an umpire," he added.
Speaking of the unfortunate errors in decision-making during the domestic cricket tournaments in the country, Dar said umpires are human beings and can make errors.
