LONDON: German government bonds edged lower on Monday, tracking a dip in US Treasuries as news that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed by a US-led operation in Pakistan boosted riskier assets such equities.

Thin trading conditions were likely to exaggerate moves however, with UK and many Asian markets closed for public holidays.

June Bund futures were 8 ticks lower at 122.84.

UBS technical analyst Richard Adcock said Friday's close above the March 24 high of 122.74 should be a fresh fresh bullish trigger, opening the way towards the March 16 high at 123.92.

Two-year bond yields were up a basis point at 1.784 percent, with 10-year yields up just over half a basis point at 3.242 percent.

The 2/10 year yield curve was at its flattest since November after data on Friday showed stronger euro zone inflation than expected, bringing the prospect of further ECB interest rate hikes into focus.

European shares were set to open higher on Monday, tracking gains in Asia and in US stock index futures.
