JOHANNESBURG: South Africa's manufacturing output fell-more-than expected by 1.1 percent year-on-year in volume terms in September after a revised 2.8 percent rise in August, Statistics South Africa said on Thursday.
The consensus of economists in a Reuters poll was for output to contract 0.5 percent in September.
On a month-on-month basis production fell by a seasonally adjusted 2.3 percent but grew slightly by 0.3 percent in the three months to September compared with the previous quarter.
