imageBoard of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) President Anurag Thakur has ruled out the possibility of an Indo-Pak bilateral series, amid escalating tensions between the Soth Asian neighbours in the wake of Uri attacks.

“Priority is to expose Pak as country which sponsors terrorism. No question of playing cricket which such a nation,” stated Thakur on Friday, reported ANI.

However, it should be noted that as of late no proposal from any side was made for a bilateral series. There hasn’t been a complete bilateral series between the Asian cricketing titans, since 2007-08. And Thakur’s statement has further cemented the notion that BCCI is not willing to play a series with Pakistan in the foreseeable future.

It is pertinent to mention that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between PCB and BCCI in 2014, under which both teams were scheduled to play six series in the 2015-2023. However, these were subject to ‘clearance from New Delhi.’

The two teams, however, are scheduled to play each other in ICC’s Champions Trophy to be held next year in June in England. But bilateral series between the two nations remain a distant dream considering the present state of affairs.
