imagePESHAWAR: Chairman Regional Cricket Association FATA Shahid Khan Sunday said that the first Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa FATA Region Twenty20 Cricket Cup will be commencing from January 30 at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium under the aegis of Regional Cricket Association FATA.

Addressing a press conference here at FATA Olympic Association Secretariat Qayyum Sports Complex Shahid Khan said that all arrangements in this connection have already been finalized for the smooth conduct of the mega event.

President Regional Cricket Association Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, Secretary Shakeel Khan Dawar, representatives from various agencies comprising Ibrahim Khan (Khurram Agency), Haji Taimur Khan (Khyber Agency), first class cricketer Abid Khan (Bannu), Muhammad Roshan Khan (South Waziristan Agency), Shah Muhammad (Mohmand Agency), Pervez Shahid (Bajaur Agency), Fawad Shinwari and Yahya Jan (North Waziristan Agency), Zafar Khattak (FR Tank) were also present during the press conference.

Shahid Khan said that it would be the first Twenty20 Cricket Cup named after Governor KP Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan in which a total of 11 teams from four districts Dera Ismail Khan, FR Tank, Bannu and Kohat and seven agencies are taking part.

He also lauded the support of the Governor KP Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan who is very keen to have different sports activities all across FATA. He said they have constituted a selection committee to monitor the performance of the players before short-listing them for the camp to be setup with the support and guidance of Pakistan Cricket Board.

A request has also been made to have well qualified coach to impart training and coaching in the camp. He said FATA Coach Rehmat Gul is also working very hard with the players. He said Regional Cricket Association FATA won Grade-II Cricket title and also grabbed Twenty20 Cricket Tournament trophy.

Shahid said that there is no dearth of talent in FATA and the main thing is to involve them under qualified coaches in a rigorous training. He said as desired by the Governor KP Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan RCA FATA is holding the Twenty20 Cup.

He disclosed that RCA FATA has produced players like Usman Shinwari, Nisar Afridi and Manzoor Shinwari who represented national team and more players are in the pipeline to come and show their skills at national and international levels.

He also lauded Political Agency Khyber Agency Shahab Ali Shah for extending all out support to Regional Cricket Association FATA.

The inaugural ceremony of the Cup will be held on January 30 at 10.00 a.m at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium while the final and prize distribution ceremony will be organized on February 6 at 3. 00 p.m. There will be two matches on each day before the semi-finals and final, he concluded.
