ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee on Tuesday asked the Secretary Cabinet Division to submit a report about alleged violation of the governments monetization policy in a fortnight.

The PAC met here under the chairmanship of Nadeem Afzal Gondal. Members of the committee Yasmeen Rehman, Noor Alam Khan, Zahid Hamid, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Hamid Yar Hiraj, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Shahnaz Sheikh and Khawja Asif attended the meeting.

The committee directed that the matter be remanded back to the Departmental Audit Committee for further examination as there was huge amount of supplementary grants involved for purchase of cars. The Principal Accounting Officer was also directed to re-examine the need for purchase of costly Mercedes Benz and bullet-proof cars.

Secretary Cabinet Division Nargis Sethi apprised the committee that the grant closed with a saving of Rs 222.976 million which worked out to 9.27 percent of the total grant and an amount of Rs 258.436 million (10.75%) was surrendered resulting into an excess of Rs 35.460 million (1.48%).

She said that a supplementary grant of Rs 8.301 million was sanctioned but not included in supplementary schedule of authorized expenditure and the excess was mainly due to booking of 13 months expenditure of pay & allowances instead of 12 months due to introduction of SAP computer programme under the PIFRA project.
