ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has installed CCTV cameras at three main stations as part its measures to ensure fool-proof security for the passengers.
These cameras have been installed at Karachi, Lahore and Rohri while two X-Ray/Scanning Machine were also installed at Karachi and Lahore stations.
An official source on Tuesday said, moreover, walk through gates were installed at major railway stations including Peshawar Cantt, Nowshera, Attock City, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rohri, Nawab Shah, Karachi Cantt, Karachi City, Hyderabad, Quetta and Sibi for screening of passengers and luggage.
Besides, he said, Pakistan Railways Police (PRP) were being deputed to main security at these stations.
The official said owing to budgetary constraints, the above equipments were not provided to other Railway stations, however, the PRP staff, equipped with arms and ammunitions and metal detectors, is performing security duties at these stations.
He said on availability of funds the above equipments will also be purchased and installed at other stations. The case for purchase of jammers for Lahore station is under process.
