Activities at Karachi Port

The Karachi Port handled 62,966 tonnes of cargo comprising 48,735 tonnes of import cargo and 14,231 tonnes of export cargo including 5,569 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 48,735 tonnes comprised of 48,735 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargos of 14,231 tonnes comprised of 14,131 tonnes of containerised cargo and 100 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 5,569 containers comprising of 3,422 containers of import and 2,147 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,124 of 20's and 1,095 of 40's loaded while 30 of 20's and 39 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 290 of 20's and 225 of 40's loaded containers while 443 of 20's and 482 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Performance, Coral Star, Cosco Japan, Bay Yasu, Haruna Express and Aisha Sarwar carrying containers, chemical, mogas and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
