  • Apple aims to use India as an export hub amid rising US China trade war.
  • iPhone XR tagged 'Assembled in India' were spotted in Indian markets.

US based technology giant Apple has started assembling one of its best selling iPhone XR in India, as the Cupertino based company aims to avoid high taxes.

According to CNBC, the phones are being assembled at Taipei-based contract manufacturer Foxconn’s India factory. Assembling in India not only allows Apple to avoid paying high taxes but also meets the government's guidelines on sourcing norms, which will also help Apple open its retail stores in India in the near future.

As per the report, Apple latest move comes amid ongoing trade war between the United States and China, as the company is now looking to use India as an export hub.

Companies such as Apple are also looking to use India as an export hub to soften the impact of an ongoing trade war between the United States and China.

The report further stated that iPhone XR boxes with an ‘Assembled in India’ tag were spotted in Indian electronic markets with the 64GB version of the iPhone XR ‘Assemble in India’ being sold at a price of INR 49,900.

The report further stated that the company has cut prices of iPhone XR prices in India as it seeks to increase sales in wake of competition from other premium smartphones from Samsung and OnePlus.
