KARACHI: Shipping activity remained active at the Port where three ships M.V Ikan Bayan, M.T Karachi and M.T Asphalt Merchant carrying 55,000 tonnes canola seeds, 71,496 tonnes furnace oil and 1,723 tonnes Bitumen were berthed at Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday, March 14.
Meanwhile, another containers ship also arrived of outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was maintained at the Port at 54% on Wednesday where a total of eight ships namely C.V Sea land Michigan, M.V Seagull D, M.V Hiba Al-Nour-B, M.V Wilma, M.V Mercy Wisdom, M.V Ikon Bayan, M.T Asphalt Merchant, M.T Al-Soor-II and M.T Karachi were occupied at PQA berths to load/offload containers, cement, wheat, seeds, bitumen, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 77,577 tonnes, comprises 63,720 tonnes imports, 13,857 tonnes exports, inclusive containerized cargo carried in 604 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port.
General cargo carrier Wilma sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.
Three ships C.V CMA CGM Verdi, C.V Nora Maersk and M.T Harsandi carrying containers and chemicals are expected to take berths at QICT and EVTL respectively on Thursday, March 15.
C.V New Delhi Express is due to arrive at Port Qasim on some day. Two ships C.V MSC Levina and C.V MSC Reunion are due to arrive on Friday, March 16.
