LONDON/HAMBURG: Libya's state grain buying agency has purchased about 65,000 tonnes of Russian-origin milling wheat in a tender for 63,000 tonnes which closed on Feb. 27, European traders said on Tuesday.
Price for about half of the wheat was said to be around $330 a tonne c&f, other prices were unclear. The tender had sought March shipment.
Traders said the purchases were being made separately by individual branches of the agency in Benghazi and Tripoli. About half of the volume would go to each branch.
Civic leaders in the eastern Libyan region of Cyrenaica which includes Benghazi have created a council to administer the region, a move that could lead to confrontation with the interim leadership in Tripoli.
