MNS University: Farmers protest over news of acquiring blocks for secretariat

Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (PKI) has strongly protested over the news of acquiring of the different blocks of the Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan to be used for establishing Secretariat. PKI Chief Khalid Khokhar said that never in the history of Pakistan that a university been converted into a Government Secretariat. The farmers community would never accept this secretariat at the cost of a university and would resent to its maximum. Kissan Ittehad will protest if it happens so, warned Khalid Khokhar in a statement issued here Saturday.
The MNS University of Agriculture Multan is the only agriculture university in the Southern Punjab to cater for the academic needs of the students in agriculture and its allied sciences and playing a pivotal role in serving the farmers community of this region. The university has a broader focus to improve the agriculture sector in the Punjab. The university has now taken off to lead in Research and Development to serve the farming community, to which the farmers are acknowledging. The university has been conducting international and national conferences/ seminars/workshops and strong farmers Outreach Programs, he added.
"I am also aware of many other innovated and applied research initiatives of the university on cotton, wheat, hydroponics, organic vegetable production, kitchen gardening for enhancing agricultural productivity, community service and environmental sustainability,' PKI Chief said.
