The Karachi Port handled 158,401 tonnes of cargo comprising 96,646 tonnes of import cargo and 61,755 tonnes of export cargo including 7,857 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 96,646 tonnes comprised of 42,639 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,054 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,097 tonnes of soyabean meal; 9,862 tonnes of DAP and 16,994 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 61,755 tonnes comprised of 51,440 tonnes of containerised cargo; 715 tonnes of bulk cargo and 9,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,857 containers comprising of 2,912 containers import and 4,945 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,127 of 20's and 762 of 40's loaded while 163 of 20's and 49 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,344 of 20's and 629 of 40's loaded containers while 445 of 20's and 949 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Long Beach Trader, Cape Male, KMTC Mumbai, MT Lahore, KSL Heng Yang, Ken Wave, Butinah and Pacific Julia Sea carrying containers, oil tanker, steel, DAP and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Kota Kaya, Polo and Chemway Arrow carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 130,803 tonnes comprising 95,216 tonnes of import cargo and 35,587 tonnes of export cargo including 3,418 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 95,216 tonnes includes 26,002 tonnes of furnace oil; 14,000 tonnes of palm oil; 12,159 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 13,700 tonnes of chemical and 29,355 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 35,587 tonnes includes 35,587 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,418 containers comprising of 1,545 containers import and 1,873 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV Maersk Denver and CV MOL Grandeur carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two ships namely CV APL Miami and MV Argent Gerbera carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV APL Miami, CV Maersk Denver, CV MOL Grandeur, MV Thassos, MV Valadon, MV Argent Gerbera, MV YM Miranda, MT Totonno Bottiglieri and MT Manuela Botigliri were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, canola seeds, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eighteen ships namely CV CMA CGM Almaviva, CV Express Rome, MV Maersk Pearl, MV Amadeus, MV Navios Centarus, MV Avalon, MV Coventry, MV Durban Queen, MT Jo Pinari, MT Gas Esco, MT Maria-III, MT Totonno Bottiglieri, MT Ibela, MT Lion-M, MT Sovereign, MT Komome Victoria, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Able Sailor carrying containers, condensate, soyabean, canola seeds, bitumen, LPG, Mo Gas, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Almaviva, CV Express Rome, MV Houyoshi Park and MT Simaisma carrying containers, chemical and LNG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were six ships namely CV CMA CGM Almaviva, CV CMA CGM Georgia, CV Hansa America, MT Polu LNG, MT Simaisma and MT Timal Gas carrying containers, LNG and LPG respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
