Lady Health Workers (LHWs) of Khyber Agency staged a protest demonstration on Pak-Afghan highway, Jamrud on Monday against withhold of their monthly salaries for the last one year.
The protesting LHWS appealed Chief Justice of Pakistan, and Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take notice of the matter and assist them of releasing their pays.
Scores of the health workers gathered in front of Jamrud Tehsil and initiated sit-in on Pak-Afghan main road that suspended all kind of traffic.
They were on the view that on the direction of the health department they regularly participated in all health related campaigns however their monthly pays were halted for the last one year that was regretful.
"Most of us are lonely bread earner of their families and withholding our salaries compel our children on starvation which is unacceptable", they remarked.
In the holy month of Ramazan, they added officials of other departments got special package but they had been deprived of their monthly pays.
