District administration arrested 109 persons in a crackdown against profiteers in the month of Ramazan. The arrested profiteers were included butchers, vegetable & fruit sellers, chicken sellers, grocers, milkmen and others.
On the directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Peshawar, Shahid Ali Khan along with Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC), Irfan Ali conducted raids on shopkeepers on Charsadda Road and Pishtakhara areas and arrested 28 profiteers while AAC Sara Tawab Omar arrested 12 profiteers from different markets of Hayatabad.
Similarly, AAC Islahuddin carried out checking in Hashtnagri and G T Road areas and arrested 30 persons for overcharging the consumers while AAC Saeedullah Jan arrested 12 profiteers from Kohat Road and Phundo Road localities.
Furthermore, a team of the district administration headed by AAC Hamayun Khan nabbed 13 profiteers from Dalazak Road while AAC Inayatullah arrested 12 persons from Board Bazaars and its surrounding localities.
The action initiated on complaints of profiteers and violation of the official price lists in the especially established Ramazan Facilitation Centres while dozens of complainants also registered their complaints through Helpline 1052.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar, Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh has directed all Additional Assistant Commissioners (AACs) for initiating crackdown against profiteers.
