The Karachi Port handled 137,301 tonnes of cargo comprising 95,589 tonnes of import cargo and 41,712 tonnes of export cargo including 5,577 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 95,589 tonnes comprised of 16,167 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,625 tonnes of bulk cargo; 000 tonnes of coal; 247 tonnes of soyabean meal; 7,636 tonnes of DAP and 65,014 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 41,712 tonnes comprised of 38,984 tonnes of containerised cargo; 400 tonnes of bulk cargo and 2,328 tonnes of wheat; and 000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,577 containers comprising of 1,037 containers import and 4,540 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 508 of 20's and 260 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 03 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 874 of 20's and 420 of 40's loaded containers while 290 of 20's and 1,268 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely Hansa Offenburg, MSC Ishyka, Hamburg Bay, YM Oakland, Jumaira, Royal Hope, Jabal Ali-1, Kai Xuan-11 and Parandowski carrying containers, chemical, soyabean meal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were two vessels viz. Max Schulte and FPMC P Glory carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
