Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed a decline during this week past against the preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed, here on Saturday. The survey observed that potatoes price reduced further from Rs 90 per 5kg in wholesale market to Rs 70 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 20 per kg against Rs 30 per kg. The tomatoes price remained stable at Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market were available at Rs 30-35 per kg, and onion price also witnessed no change which was being sold at Rs 130 per 5kg in wholesale market while in retail market at Rs 30-35 per kg.
Local garlic price went down from Rs 450 to Rs 300 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 130 per kg while Chinese garlic price went up from Rs 400 to Rs 450 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 90 per kg, while ginger price remained stable at Rs 550 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 145 per kg. Local lemon price went up from Rs 950 to Rs 1,250 per 5kg and Chinese lemon from Rs 600 to Rs 700 per 5kg while in retail local lemon was being sold at Rs 375 per kg against Rs 230 per kg and Chinese lemon at Rs 170 per kg against Rs 140 per kg.
The survey observed that the price of live chicken went down from Rs 5,500 to Rs 5,300 per 40kg in wholesale market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 175 per kg, chicken meat was being sold at Rs 270 against Rs 300 per kg. The eggs prices in wholesale market went down from Rs 88 per dozen to Rs 80 per dozen which in retail market were being sold at Rs 90 per dozen against Rs 100 per dozen. Mutton and beef were being sold at Rs 850 per kg and Rs 450 per kg respectively. Price of spinach slightly went down from Rs 60 to Rs 50 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 15 per one-kg bundle.
Capsicum price further went down from Rs 300 to Rs 120 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 35 per kg against Rs 70 per kg; peas price went down from Rs 150 to Rs 120 per 5kg, which in retail market were being sold at Rs 30-35 per kg against Rs 40 per kg; taro (arvi) price went down from Rs 250 to Rs 160 per 5kg while in retail it was being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 60 per kg, carrot price came down from Rs 120 per kg to Rs 100 per 5kg while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 25 per kg against Rs 30 per kg and price of a pack of 8kg radish further went down from Rs 150 to Rs 100 which in retail market it was being sold at Rs 20 per kg.
Bean price witnessed no change which are available at Rs 230 per 5kg while in retail market they were being sold at Rs 55-60 per kg; okra price remained stable at Rs 500 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 130 per kg, price of ridge gourd (tori) went down from Rs 450 to Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 110 per kg.
Turnip price went down from Rs 120 to Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg against Rs 30 per kg, Maroo kadu price further went down from Rs 170 to Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 45 per kg. Cauliflower price further went down from Rs 150 to Rs 120 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 35-40 per kg and cabbage price went down from Rs 130 to Rs 80 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold Rs 20-25 per kg against Rs 35 per kg.
Brinjal price further went down from Rs 200 to Rs 150 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 50 per kg, and cucumber price went down from Rs 120 to Rs 70 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 20-25 per kg against Rs 35 per kg.
Price of apple gourd (tinda) went down from Rs 120 to Rs 100 per 5kg, while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 40 per kg; bitter gourd (karela) price went down from Rs 650 to Rs 500 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 130 per kg against Rs 160 per kg, and green chillies price remained stable at Rs 300 per kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 75 per kg.
No significant changes were seen in the prices of milk and non-perishable food items. Best quality rice was available at Rs 130 per kg, wheat-flour at Rs 750 per 20kg bag and sugar was being sold at Rs 55-60 per kg. Prices of all the major pulses remained stable as white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 180 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 200 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 120-140 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentils (Masoor) at Rs 110 per kg.
Fruits prices during this week witnessed a mixed trend as good quality local banana was being sold at Rs 110 per dozen against Rs 120 per dozen, normal quality in the range of Rs 60-80 per dozen and Indian banana at Rs 200 per dozen. Guava price went down from Rs 100 to Rs 80 per kg and normal quality guava was being sold in the range of Rs 50-60 per kg. Various qualities of oranges were available in the range Rs 100-260 per dozen with normal Kino being sold at Rs 80 per dozen against Rs 100 per dozen and Red Blood at Rs 230 per dozen against Rs 260 per dozen.
Best quality strawberry was being sold at Rs 150-175 per kg and normal quality strawberry at Rs 100 per kg, while Chinese pear price at Rs 180 per kg against Rs 165 per kg. Normal quality white apple was being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 90 per kg, Pakistani Kala Kalu apple at Rs 160 per kg against Rs 170 per kg, Iranian Kala Kalu apple at Rs 180 per kg, golden apple at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 150 per kg, Ambari apple at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 120 per kg, and Chinese and other imported apples were being sold in the range of Rs 200-250 per kg. New arrival melon was being sold at Rs 350 per cotton of 10kg against Rs 450 per cotton of 10kg in wholesale market, which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 75 per kg.
