Ebad gives initial approval for university, medical college

KARACHI: Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad, has given preliminary approval for a university and a medical college in Hyderabad.

He has directed the secretaries of Law, Eduction and Health to complete codal formalities in this regard at the earliest.

Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan was chairing a high level meeting at the Governor House here on Tuesday.

The meeting reviewed the setting up of a general university in Hyderabad.

The establishment of a medical college in Hyderabad also came up for discussion at the meeting.

Governor Sindh directed that the plan of setting up of education city by the Hyderabad Development Authority be implemented immediately and instructed that for the Muhammad Ali Jinnah University in the city 500 acres of land be allocated.

After the completion of the legislation, the university will temporarily start functioning at Comprehensive School Latifabad.

For the medical college at Kohisar, the work would start this year under the Annual Development Plan.

The Governor gave necessary instructions to the commissioner and Director General Hyderabad Development Authority in this regard.

The meeting was attended by the Sindh Health Minister, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed,Minister for Rural Development Zubair Ahmed, Principal Secretary to Governor Sindh, Mumtaz ur rehman, Secretary Law, Ghulam Nabi Shah,Secretary education, Siddiq Memon, Adviser to Governor, Naushad Shaikh, Commissioner Hyderabad, Director General Hyderabad Development Authority.
