The first meeting of the commission formed with the approval of the Federal Cabinet for the ten-year development program for the FATA's development was held under the chairmanship of Governor KP Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra Wednesday at Governor's House, Peshawar.
Besides others senior officials of commission including ex-Governor KP Owais Ahmed Ghani and Additional Chief Secretary FATA Sikandar Qayum, ex-Chief Secretary KP, Secretary P&D FATA and concerned officials of FATA Secretariat graced the occasion.
A detailed briefing regarding various development projects for the FATA's 10-year socio-economic development was given and the gathered were made aware of the developmental projects that include education, health, agriculture, infrastructure and urban center developments.
In various fields suggestions were also taken from members regarding developmental projects. The commission will present their sector wise plan in the next meeting. Meanwhile, presiding over the 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Pakistan Red Crescent Society Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Governor said history bears testimony that only those nations could survive and prosper whose people are imbued and instilled with the spirit of self sacrifice and selfless services to others.
He while referring to resilience nature of the nation, Governor added, "the country in general and our province in particular is going through a critical period but we have successfully rolled back the menace of militancy, yet it will take time to recoup its repercussions and bring back to normalcy". The role of Pakistan army, law enforcement agencies and police is commendable in restoration of peace in the region.
