Police baton-charged and tear gassed and also arrested many NTS-passed teachers staging a protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club demanding getting their services regularized. The protesting teachers had announced to proceed to Chief Minister House and were made the butt of police excesses which stopped them near Arts Council round-about as they headed towards CM House.
This is the second time in five days that the teachers staged a protest demonstration and get whipped by the police which made no distinction between male or woman teachers. Earlier today PML-F member of Sindh Assembly Nusrat Sehar Aabbasi joined the protestors.
Talking the protesting teachers, Sehar said that education standard in Sindh is lowest among the four provinces. Assuring the protesting workers her fullest support, Sehar said that she would raise their plight on the floor of the Sindh Assembly.
Still later, the police officials have offered negotiations with the striking teachers whose five-member delegation was taken to the office of Deputy Commissioner South.
It may be mentioned here that on the 20th of this month police had baton charged and used water cannons to douse protesting NTS-passed teachers demanding being regularised and made permanent. Many of the teachers, both male and female, were also arrested by the police. The protesting teachers were baton charged, water-cannoned, and arrested by police to stop the proceeding to Sindh Secretariat.
