Chief Statistician Asif Bajwa Monday said that there would be no extension in the date of census and it would be completed as per announced schedule of May 24, 2017. Replying to questions during a press briefing on inflation, he said those who have complaints about the first phase of census can get their complaints registered till April 12, 2016.
He said that during the first phase of census, house counting was completed in the 63 districts, including Karachi, Lahore, Hyderabad, Peshawar and Quetta. Bajwa said that people can report to the PBS at toll free number if their house or area is not counted in the house count.
He said that the population count of the second block in the first phase of census has been started in sixty-three districts after completion of house listing. Bajwa added that population and housing data in North and South Waziristan Agencies will be calculated in collaboration with Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA). He requested the people to cooperate with the census teams. The chief census commissioner further stated that census would be completed by May 25 2017 due to advent of Ramazan and all the complaints received so far regarding census have been addressed.
