KARACHI: Two ships CV. Nele Maersk and CV. Maersk Ngami to load/ offload containers were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal on Thursday, port sources said here Fruiday.
Three more ships carrying containers, bitumen and diesel oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 31% on Thursday where a total of four ships namely CV. Nele Maersk, C. Maersk Ngami, MV.Al Barella and MT. Chem Road Haya are currently occupying berths to load/ offload containers, rice and palm oil respectively.
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 59,952 tonnes, comprising 37,431 tonnes imports and 22,521 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2,750 containers (TEUs).
Container ship Nele Maersk sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while another container ship Maersk Ngami is expected to sail the same day afternoon.
Three ships CV. CMA CGM Effel, MT. Asphalt Merchant and MT. Al- Salam-II carrying containers, bitumen and diesel oil are expected to take berths at Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Terminal respectively on Friday, while two more container ships MSC Natalia and MSC Carta are also due to arrive at Port Qasim the same day.
